Does your New Year's resolution list include losing weight, getting more in shape, or just eating better overall? There are so many programs & fad diets being announced this year that it is almost impossible to wrap your head around them all. In the end positive lifestyle changes such as eating better and being more active are going to stick with you for the long haul. Depending on your BMI or if you suffer from thyroid issues or diabetes we recommend working with your primary care doctor or a dietitian to find the best program for you. There is one thing you can start today and that is adding activity into your life. We live in such a beautiful area and have so many options to get out and get active. You don't have to sign up to run a marathon, start slowly & work your way into doing more. Last week Dr. Hess & I planted trees at Marion Street Park in Olympia & let me tell you I was feeling it after we were done! We helped to beautify a local park & got some exercise in the process. Read on to check out 5 awesome options to get active in our local community!
This is one of my favorite times of the year. I always feel renewed, the year is my blank canvas and I am the artist that gets to make this beautiful masterpiece that is my life. I look at resolutions more in a sense of goals that I will be working toward throughout the year & for many I will break them up as to not totally overwhelm myself. I realized earlier this week that after having the baby I have not focused on diet and exercise in almost 20 months! For someone that was active before having children this was a huge eye opener for me. I want my son to see me eating well & able to keep up with his active life.
If anyone is deserving of a staff spotlight it is definitely Laurie. She has been with FASA & Dr. Hess from the very beginning and has helped to shape our practice into what it is today. She has worked almost every role from assisting in countless surgeries, scribing, back office duties you name it she has probably done it. And done it well I might add. Laurie if one of the kindest, most hardworking people I have ever met & I am so lucky to have her as one of my friends. Be sure to read on to her 20 question interview there are sure to be a few interesting responses :)
